CASE OF BABY NANI.
We all have cases in our clinic where we need to probe our way into the case to get even a minimum amount of relevant information to prescribe on. And then there are those in which there is so much info, we get confused as to what to do with it. This is one such case.
This is a case of a 73 yr old lady. She was on her death bed. She had stopped eating, couldn’t move without support. Even to sit up in bed she needed the help of her relatives. Incontinence too. The IPR had given up. All the distant and near relatives had been informed.
Her granddaughter, a homoeopath and my friend asked me if anything can be done for her. I said we can definitely try. She didn’t live with her, so her adaptation and reactions were not available. What I got was the life history of the patient and had to prescribe on it. Here is how it went…
She started by saying “ you can call her ‘bilkul nishpaap’ (absolutely innocent, blameless, blemish less).” She is such a kind person even if she sees any animal starving, she’ll give away her food without a thought. She won’t let anybody who comes to her go empty handed or at least without serving them food. Be it a carpenter or dhobi or painter, anyone.
She got married at the age of 13, the rest of her siblings got educated and are doing well but she was of ‘low IQ and looked mature’ for her age, so they married her off. The husband was quite intelligent and all throughout her life she was ‘suppressed’ saying “what the hell do you know?” “You know nothing..” etc. In fact this treatment she received from her siblings & her children as well.
She had 3 children 2 sons and a daughter. The elder one got married and had 2 kids and one fine day just left home to never return. After that she took it on herself to care for the grand children as if they were her own. The wife of the elder son never used to bother about her kids and she is a very ‘wicked lady’. But in the process she completely neglected her own 2 children. In fact her (patient’s) daughter was taken by pt’s sister to be taken care of. So she was left with only the youngest son the DIL and her 2 grand children.
Later when the grandkids grew up, she started feeling guilty that she had neglected her youngest son a lot. To compensate for it she covered for all her sons shortcomings and making him an utterly irresponsible person. He didn’t go to work, used to spend money a lot. Now she is worried about the younger one.
Husband expired in 2012. After that she was kicked out of her own house by her DIL saying if you want your good for nothing younger son then you too can get out with him, he won’t be accommodated here anymore . AND SHE LEFT!!!. She had a big sweet shop business left behind by her husband and she left it all. She a small share from its income, which was kept in the bank account and they moved to another house they owned in Navi Mumbai. This son lied about going to work and to show salary he used to withdraw from this account and spend it. Soon the account was NIL. Everyone in the family was angry at this fellow but the patient defended his actions.
Now before falling ill she was acting weird. She used to tuck away small pieces of clothes at different parts of her bed. She needed various balms under her pillow, near her feet etc. Lastly she said we all lovingly call her “BABY NANI” bcos that’s how she speaks, like a child.
There was such a wealth of information in this case, what I’ve written is the shortened relevant version. When we get so much info we need to take a step back and see the case from a distance. In its totality. We try to get more into the details, it gets all the more confusing.
What I thought was why was she ill-treated all her life?
It was not just the in laws but her own family as well who didn’t think much of her.
Why was it so easy for a DIL to kick the MIL out of her own house so easily?
BECAUSE SHE WAS IN FACT OF LOW INTELLECTUAL CAPACITY.
The grand daughter told it at the very beginning. All her actions and IPR reactions can be justified by the fact that she is not a very bright person.
Second aspect is her caring generous nature, which stood out.
So the remedy should include both these aspects.
It should be a remedy with
GENEROUS, CARING, KIND HEARTED
A BIG HEART

After this case I’ve always confirmed Bovista by asking about how helpful they are towards others and the response I usually get from the IPR is that they’d go out of the way to help people. I had a patient who would give his credit card and pin number to his friends when they asked for money. Another patient that I saw at Mayuresh sirs clinic used to give away the jewellery she was wearing, like her gold chain, or bangles or earrings to friends at work who’d ask for monetary help from her. It was there that Sir taught us this rubric & I’ve applied it successfully ever since. Gratitude MASTER.
NAÏVE: a person showing lack of experience, wisdom or judgment; innocent.
INNOCENCE: lack of guile or corruption;
Purity.{synonyms: unsophisticated, inexperienced, guileless, unworldly, wide eyed, unpretentious, immature}
I find in bovista, more than naiveness, they are innocent like a child. They are in the rubric-
Development of children arrested.
They remain a child throughout
The HOW of a naïve person especially Bov, is seen in their eyes. The eyes are wide, eyebrows drawn up with a childish expression on their face.
They speak innocently like a child not knowing where to speak what or what information not to divulge and can never keep a secret.
TRUTH TELLING THE PLAIN
LOQUACITY OPEN HEARTED.
They lack the judgement of what information is to be withheld and what is to be divulged in a given situation. They lack that discretion, hence Bov is in the rubric- INDISCRETION
Out of the 4 main remedies in the rubric -truth telling the plain
Viz: Alum, Bov, Hyos and Verat
Only Bov is NOT in the rubric Affectation.
They say it, as it is, with utmost innocence.
Here when the patient was always told that she shouldn’t interfere or that she knows nothing, the family was supressing her, telling her that you are not capable. The IPR reacts like RAMADHIR SINGH from Gangs of Wasseypur and says “Beta, tumse nah o paega!!!” But Bov feels they are capable and whatever they are saying is valid and appropriate, even great - Delusion – enlarged head is. So this reation by the family and society hurts Bovista.
It is in retrospect I understood -because of the genius that is Gupta sir- the “Ailments” in this case. Bov is in the rubric -Ailments from sexual excesses. Focus on the word “excesses”. It is not just “excess” but EXCESSES. So many incidences that has happened in her life makes one feel ‘ye kuch jyada hi bura hua iske saath’. This ‘jyada’ is excesses or ‘jyadatiya’ (atrocities). And sexual here is in the context of gender and not the sexual act. For ex: Usually males will do ‘atyachar’ on women. As men are stronger and women physically weaker. Atyachar happens to the weaker sections. So here the excesses done on the weaker by the stronger is sexual excesses. They are always taken for granted, made a fool of or taken advantage of. These atrocities they face throughout life because of their Naiveness.
One movie character that comes to mind when thinking of Bovista is
Salman Khan as Bajrangi from the movie Bajrangi Bahijaan. He is a man child who due to his naiveness and big heart sets out to take the little girl back to Pakistan. What’s more, he gets there illegally and tells the cops everything as it happened, even the fact that he got there without proper documents and who got him there etc.

TRUTH TELLING THE PLAIN
LOQUACITY OPEN HEARTED
This is the core of BOVISTA.
Follow up 1: after 5 days (from patient’s daughter)
3rd day after dose she started talking.
She was back to her senses.
She is asking for food. Eating with her own hands.
Legs are still weak, needs support. Can walk with the help of one person. Earlier 2-3 people were needed to move her.
She used to fall back if made to sit but now she can sit without support.
No incontinence.
She kept on improving steadily. They used to report her progress on the phone.
Follow-up 2: 1 MONTH LATER- SHE CAME TO MY CLINIC.
That’s the first time I saw her. Wide eyed old lady. Just smiled and didn’t speak much. She told her son to do the talking and she kept on agreeing to whatever follow up the son was giving.
She came down the flight of stairs from the 4th floor, without support. Got into their SUV all on her own and walked a distance of about 200 meters to come to my clinic.
She was healthy since, for more than a year. She fell sick a year later, her chest was congested, she found it difficult to breathe and was delirious. Bovista again helped but in a different way; it removed the congestion and delerium. She could recognise everybody who came to meet her and she peacefully breathed her last. This was the feedback from her daughter. That is the story of BABY NANI.
She taught me Bovista on a whole new level. I hope this case helps in prescribing more of this beautiful innocent remedy.
